GreenChem was founded in 2003 and started in the Netherlands to develop solutions for a new growing market. Starting out as a small business with only five employees, GreenChem matured into an international world leader in AdBlue production and hardware.
The introduction of Euro4 emission legislation in 2006 resulted in a rapid growth of the AdBlue market. GreenChem was appointed as the ‘First Fill’ supplier of DAF and contracted by other automotive manufacturers. Hundreds of trucks left the plant with an AdBlue tank filled by GreenChem.
In spite of the anti SCR campaign that was conducted by EGR manufacturers, claiming that AdBlue was hard to come by, GreenChem continued to grow. In 2007, GreenChem owned 15 production units across Europe and launches AdBlue4you.com. At that time GreenChem had become the second largest supplier of AdBlue in no more than three years. And GreenChem activities were not limited to the production of AdBlue. AdBlue distribution, hardware and dispensing also became core business of GreenChem.
By its fifth anniversary in 2008, GreenChem had 12 fully operational plants and was planning the construction of ten more production facilities across Europe.
In 2009 GreenChem was taken over by Agrofert Group, an international organization with its headquarters in Prague (CZ). GreenChem had already teamed up with Duslo in Slovakia (also part of Agrofert Group) in 2008, to improve quality and increase distribution possibilities. GreenChem already had 450 oil distributors across Europe as its exclusive dealers and cooperates with major oil suppliers, truck manufacturers and dealers.
As a part of Agrofert, GreenChem continued its growth in 2010 (about 30%). New plants and distribution points are still being opened and the distribution network is still being expanded.
